The Girl With All The Gifts

In a dystopian future, most of humanity has been infected by the zombie fungus. The infected is referred to as Hungries, who completely lose their mental powers and feed on the flesh of healthy humans. The few surviving humans, who live in heavily-guarded Birmingham, focus on searching for a cure by studying a small group of part Hungry and part human hybrid children. Unlike the first-generation Hungries, the children are still able to retain their mental powers but will lose control when they get too close to human scent. If anything goes wrong, the scientists will kill their test subjects and that is something that Helen Justineau, a teacher, cannot accept. When one of the children, Melanie, is selected for dissection, Helen, along with a scientist and two soldiers, will do anything to keep her safe.

The Good, the Bad and the Gifted Girl:

• The movie is a fresh addition to the hugely popular zombie genre and the movie raises the bar when it comes to being truly horrific.

• The film is not as gory as many other zombie films out there, which is a welcome change as it is instead very heavy on the brain with its thought provoking themes.

• Like every good zombie film, the film gives you the essential component of a good horror film - having characters you care about, which is only possible with a solid cast as this.

Trivia:

• Glenn Close's sister-in-law, Deb Close plays one of the zombies AKA "hungries" in the movie.
