The Long Excuse (JFF)

When noted celebrity writer Sachio Kinugasa loses his wife in a bus accident, he has to pretend to be broken-hearted by the news, despite having fallen out of love with her. He then meets Yoichi Omiya, a truck driver whose wife has also died in the same bus accident. Being in despair over his wife`s death, Yoichi finds it hard to cope with raising his two children. Not knowing why, Sachio then offers to look after the two children, while pondering on his own lack of grief over his wife`s death.
Berkisarkan tentang Sachio yang tidak lagi mempunyai perasaan dengan isterinya Natsuko. Apabila isterinya meninggal dunia dalam kemalangan bas, dia tidak berasa sedih langsung dan hanya berpura-pura sahaja. Gelagatnya mendapat perhatian Yoichi, seorang suami yang sedih selepas kematian isterinya. Atas sebab tidak diketahui, Sachio menawarkan diri untuk menjaga anak Yoichi ketika dia keluar bekerja.
