Despite having a successful career in London and a master degree in architecture, Serena Bruno finds her return to her home country Italy to be bad news as she struggles to land a job suitable of her resume. Upon the discovery of an urban eyesore, the Corviale, Serena`s enthusiasm is back and she quickly submits her proposal for the project to the Town Hall. However, Serena`s surname gets mistaken as the first name for a non-existing male architect. Determined to win the project, Serena decides to go with the blunder and pretends to be a man.

Walaupun mempunyai kerjaya yang berjaya di London dan ijazah dalam seni bina, Serena Bruno mendapati kepulangannya ke Itali adalah berita buruk berikutan dia bergelut untuk mendapatkan kerja yang sesuai. Selepas terlihat peluang untuk mendapatkan projek Corviale, Serena kembali bersemangat dan menghantar cadangan kerja untuk projek itu kepada Dewan Rakyat. Apabila nama Serena disalah anggap sebagai nama lelaki, dia nekad untuk memenangi projek itu walaupun terpaksa berlakon menjadi lelaki.
