Watch this if you liked: “Gintama” anime series

The Good, the Bad and the Lazy Samurai:

• Adapting from one of the best-selling manga and anime series, the movie version is certainly faithful and lives up to the originals.

• Some critics judge the movie for its gross-out comedy style, but they failed to realise that the anime and manga are known worldwide because of that.

• The movie is so random and doesn't make sense, much like the anime and manga - but the thing is, it's not supposed to make sense, because that would be ruining the essence of the original series.

• Some of the jokes and gags may seem a bit exaggerated, but that's just how Japanese style comedy works.

• So if you're looking to watch the movie with the expectation of seeing a historical and epic film, then clearly this movie is not for you.

Trivia:

• Shun Oguri based his performance as Gintoki Sakata on Chinese martial artist/comedian Jackie Chan.
