After separating with her husband, single mother Alice Kinney decides to move back to Los Angeles. During a night out on her 40th birthday, she stumbles upon three aspiring filmmakers who are in need of a place to live. She welcomes the guys to move into her house temporarily, but things then start to unfold in unexpected ways.

The Good, the Bad and the Single Mom:

• Over the last decade, rom com has become one of the least favourite genres as new ideas to enhance this kind of movies are going dry.

• So, the same can be said of Reese Witherspoon's latest flick, which is easy to forget even though it is somewhat entertaining.

• The story features every rom com cliches you can think of, and some of them are amateurishly executed.

• Apart from Reese Witherspoon, the movie also features other huge stars like Michael Sheen and Nat Wolff, but the poor script and dialogue makes these talented actors become so flat and boring.

• Overall, the movie is cute to a certain extent but there are other better romantic comedies out there.

Trivia:

• Rose Byrne was initially attached to the lead role.
