Prashant Sharma dreams of becoming a singer but lack of opportunity stops him from realising his dream. Even though he is now a family man in a middle class family, he plans to continue his musical dream through his daughter, Lata. The awkward and overweight teenage girl doesn`t impress, however, at the singing contests that he makes her join. His life takes a comical turn when one day, out of desperation to make his daughter famous, especially after he gets fired from his job, he kidnaps India`s biggest popstar Baby Singh when he comes across her while job hunting. His ransom demand: Lata must be heard by everyone on the most popular music show in the country or he will kill the pop star.

Prashant Sharma mempunyai impian untuk menjadi penyanyi tetapi kekurangan peluang menghalangnya daripada mencapai cita-citanya. Walaupun dia kini sudah berkeluarga, dia merancang untuk meneruskan impian muziknya melalui anak perempuannya, Lata. Lata yang kekok dan berbadan besar tidak diterima baik ketika menyertai pertandingan nyanyian. Hidup Prashant bertambah sukar apabila dia dibuang kerja. Namun ketika dia sedang mencari kerja, dia terserempak dengan popstar India iaitu Baby Singh, yang mana dia kemudian telah menculik penyanyi itu dan menuntut Lata muncul di rancangan muzik popular atau Baby Singh akan dibunuh.
