In a tiny English seaside town, a struggling singer-songwriter named Jack Malik dreams of fame but even as his childhood best friend, Ellie, continues supporting him, his dreams are rapidly fading. One day, the world experiences a mysterious global blackout due to a freak bus accident. When Jack wakes up, he finds out that nobody but himself remembers that The Beatles have ever existed. With a little help from Debra, his steel-hearted American agent, he begins performing the bands` songs as if they were his own. With this his fame explodes but as his star rises, he risks losing Ellie.

Namun, walaupun rakan baiknya sejak kecil, Ellie, terus menyokongnya, impiannya sering gagal. Suatu hari, dunia berdepan satu insiden misteri kerana satu kemalangan bas.
