Bowen was a successful finance executive but after going to prison for embezzlement, he is unable to land himself a job following his release. Too embarrassed to go home to his family, he now spends his time at a 24-hour fast food joint, where he encounters others who are in similar predicaments. Despite each of them facing a tough time, they try to help each other improve their lives. Among his new "roommates" are a mother-daughter pair who has to pay back high-interest loans, a young singer living in temporary shelter, a young runaway, and a man who is scared to go home.

Sebelum hidup sebagai gelandangan, Bowen merupakan seorang pegawai kewangan yang berjaya di firma kewangan tempat dia bekerja. Namun kini dia hanya mehabiskan masa di sebuah restoran makanan segera yang beroperasi 24 jam sehari. Di situ dia turut mengenali beberapa 'rakan sebilik' yang senasib dengannya: seorang ibu bersama anak perempuannya yang telah membuat pinjaman dengan faedah tinggi bagi melangsaikan hutang ibu mertuanya, seorang lelaki yang takut untuk pulang ke rumahnya, seorang pelarian muda, dan seorang penyanyi yang mencari tempat tinggal sementara. Biarpun masing-masing tidak bernasib baik, mereka masih menyokong antara satu sama lain.
