When a middle school music teacher, Joe Gardner, dies from an accident, his soul is sent to the "You Seminar", a place where souls are developed and perfected. After graduating the You Seminar, each soul will then go to the real world to live inside a person. There, Joe has to work with other souls in training so that he can graduate. As he has always dreamed of performing at a legendary New York jazz club and almost had his chance before his accidental death, he must now work hard to return to Earth before it`s too late.

Joe Gardner adalah guru muzik sekolah menengah di New York yang memasang impian untuk menjadi seorang pemain piano jazz. Malangnya dia terjatuh ke dalam sebuah pembetung di jalan raya Manhattan, menyebabkan jiwanya terpisah dari jasadnya dan dihantar ke You Seminar, iaitu sebuah pusat di mana jiwa-jiwa dihasilkan bersama minat mereka sebelum dimasukkan dalam badan bayi yang baru lahir. Untuk pulang ke Bumi semula, Gardner perlu berlatih dengan jiwa-jiwa yang lain seperti 22, jiwa yang sudah lama terperangkap di pusat tersebut.
