Step (JFF)

After his wife`s death, young father Kenichi finds himself having to raise his little daughter Miki on his own. His parents-in-law advise him to marry again, despite having second doubts as they might not see their granddaughter often anymore. Kenichi decides not to remarry and instead devotes his life to raising Miki, though over the course of 10 years, he faces various challenges. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Kiyoshi Shigematsu.
Berdasarkan novel nukilan Kiyoshi Shigematsu yang sama judulnya, filem ini mengisahkan pengorbanan bapa tunggal, Kenichi, dalam membesarkan anak perempuannya, Miki. Selepas isterinya, Tomoko, meninggal dunia, ibu bapa mertuanya menasihatinya untuk berkahwin lain walaupun mereka berasa ragu-ragu dengan cadangan itu. Walau bagaimanapun, Kenichi enggan bersetuju demi menjaga perasaan ibu bapa mertuanya. Selama sepuluh tahun, Kenichi sentiasa berada di sisi Miki, bermula dari hari pertamanya di tadika, hinggalah dia tamat sekolah rendah. Namun pengalaman membesarkan anaknya seorang diri bukanlah mudah kerana dia perlu berdepan dengan pelbagai cabaran.
