11 Feb – After successfully making his return with "Split" and "Glass" after a string of critically panned movies, M. Night Shyamalan recently unveiled his new film, the psychological thriller, "Old". The film, which released its trailer at the Super Bowl, was revealed to have been based on the graphic novel "Sandcastle" by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters. Shyamalan wrote and directed the film himself, and co-produced it with "Glass" producers Ashwin Rajan and Marc Bienstock.
The synopsis released by Universal read, ""This summer, visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly... reducing their entire lives into a single day." The upcoming film stars Mexican star Gael Garcia Bernal, Australian actress Eliza Scanlen, Luxembourgish actress Vicky Krieps, Scottish actor Emun Elliot, as well as British star Rufus Sewell among many.
It was back in October 2019 that Universal Studios announced that it will be partnering with M. Night Shyamalan to release two new thriller films which Shyamalan would write, produce and direct. The filmmaker is most known for his supernatural thriller, "Sixth Sense" and superhero thriller, "Unbreakable".
