2 Feb – Actress Felicity Jones, who had starred in a lot of cult indie hits like "Cemetery Junction" and "Like Crazy", is in negotiations to star in Universal's "Rosaline". Those familiar to the "Romeo and Juliet" story by William Shakespeare will recognise that the character 'Rosaline' was Romeo's 'ex', so it will be interesting to see how the story will be planned out. "Rosaline" is set in the classic period of the play but uses modern language as it tells the story from the viewpoint of Rosaline, Romeo's first love, whom he dumps for her cousin, Juliet. The project has been compared to "Wicked", the Wizard of Oz-based musical, in the sense that it tells a classic story from a different perspective.
The idea and story was taken from the novel "When You Were Mine" by Rebecca Serle, published in 2012 by Simon Pulse. Shawn Levy is producing the film, and the script is being penned by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, the duo who wrote "(500) Days of Summer". Jones, a British actress who broke through in the U.S., starred with Ralph Fiennes in "The Invisible Woman" recently. She has wrapped a series of films, among them "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "True Story", with Jonah Hill and James Franco.
