Meryl Streep, James Corden, Ariana Grande among "The Prom" stars

Meryl Streep, James Corden and Ariana Grande are just some of the stars that
will be headlining "The Prom".

26 Jun – "The Prom" is set to be quite a star-studded affair, as director-producer Ryan Murphy has lined up some of the biggest names in Hollywood for the movie adaptation of the Tony-nominated stage musical.

Meryl Streep is leading a cast that includes James Corden, Ariana Grande, Nicole Kidman, Awkwafina, Andrew Rannells and Keegan-Michael Key, as reported by Deadline.

Streep will star as two-time Tony winner Dee Dee Allen, who teams up with Barry Glickman (Corden) in a flop musical about Eleanor Roosevelt. The career-ending reviews that resulted from it lead to the two, along with Angie Dickinson (Kidman) and Trent Oliver (Rannells) deciding to champion a cause to rehabilitate their careers. They find one in a high school senior in Indiana named Emma, who is not given permission to take her girlfriend to the prom.

Awkwafina will be playing the group's publicist Ms. Sheldon, Key will play Principal Hawkins who is also Emma's ally and Streep's love interest, and Grande will play the popular Alyssa, the head of the PTA's daughter.

Grande will also be producing the soundtrack along with her manager Scooter Braun and Murphy.
