George A. Romero's film became an inspiration for many subsequent zombie movies

George A. Romero was best known as the Father of Zombie Films. His original 1968 film was a low-budget project revolving around a group of strangers who are trapped in a farmhouse under siege by the undead. It had since spawn a number of sequels including "Dawn of the Dead" (1978), "Day of the Dead" (1985) and "Land of the Dead", which was released in 2005. His films became an inspiration for many zombie movies that came after it.

On the other hand, Romero's widow Suzanne Romero is currently developing the late filmmaker's unmade zombie project, "Twilight of the Dead".
