12 Nov – TGV Cinemas receives another shot in the arm with the announcement of three more locations to be added to its fold – TGV SetiaWalk in Puchong, TGV 1st Avenue in Penang and also TGV 1Shamelin in Cheras.

In a speech by TGV Cinemas Chief Operating Officer Kenny Wong at SetiaWalk's signing ceremony in Puchong, he said: "The choice of SetiaWalk is in line with TGV's move into suburban areas to tap into demand by moviegoers in these areas. As part of our network expansion, we have already added two new locations in this year alone. We opened our 'new generation' cinemas at Wangsa Walk in April this year, which has 9 screens with a seating capacity of 1,628. In September 2010, we opened the first and only multiplex in Terengganu. Located in Kemaman, the TGV Mesra Mall will have a total of 5 screens with 780 seats; 3 of these screens are now open and another 2 are in progress."

A press release by TGV Cinemas states: "For SetiaWalk, we plan to have 9 halls with a seating capacity of 1,935 covering 4,731 sq m or 50,923 sq ft. The design and concept of the TGV SetiaWalk will appeal to the young movie-going customers. We would like to create an environment that would give them the ultimate cinema experience that goes beyond just watching movies."

He added: "By the time TGV SetiaWalk opens its doors in the third quarter of 2011, we would have already added two more multiplexes to our network. We are targeting to open TGV 1st Avenue in Penang in early 2011, while TGV 1 Shamelin in Cheras is scheduled to open in mid-2011. With the openings in 1st Avenue, 1 Shamelin and SetiaWalk, TGV Cinemas would have 18 multiplexes with 140 screens and more than 28,000 seats."

To date, TGV has 15 multiplexes with 114 screens and some 23,000 seats in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Perak, Penang and Johor.
