5 Feb – As the leading cinema exhibitor in Malaysia, Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) has broken its own record when it received the Platinum Award at the prestigious Putra Brand Awards for two consecutive years.

GSC chief executive officer Koh Mei Lee stated that GSC's success in winning the platinum in the Entertainment category has given a boost to her team to continue to provide the best service to their customers.

"It is wonderful to be selected as the best entertainment brand in the country at the Putra Brand Awards again this year. It has been an incredibly challenging time for the entertainment industry, especially for cinemas, which have been hit hard due to the mandated closures for prolonged periods during this pandemic.

"This award provides us with encouragement and validates our continued efforts to deliver content, products, and services that offer customers a truly enriching cinema experience.

"We are thankful and appreciative of all the support Malaysians have given us and look forward to welcoming everyone back to our cinemas soon," she added.

Additionally, GSC has been announced as a 100 Leading Graduate Employer in Malaysia, having secured two awards including the Top 100 category as well as being accorded the runner-up position in the Media and Entertainment sectors.

Even though GSC has temporarily ceased its operations as well as having closed several of its branches, it remains strong and is continuously developing many special and interesting campaigns for Malaysians. Its "Hello. Cannot" campaign had received tremendous support from over 3.5 million viewers.

The Putra Brand Awards was launched in 2010 by the Association of Accredited Advertising Agents Malaysia (4As) in association with the Malaysia's Most Valuable Brands (MMVB) - to recognise brand building as an integral business investment, measured by consumer preference.
