Zac Efron becomes a "NARC"

Zac Efron is set to lead the true crime project "Narc".

23 May – It seems that Zac Efron will take a break from his usual roles in family dramas and romantic comedies, having been confirmed to topline "Narc", a true crime film.

According to Collider, Efron will play a college student and fraternity president who gets busted for cocaine. In order to avoid jail time, he agrees to be the cops' undercover informant and help them catch the higher-ups on the drug dealing ladder. At the same time, he has to continue his life as a student, fraternity president and lacrosse team captain.

The film is described as a less-dark, college version of Mike Newell's "Donnie Brasco". "Narc" has been picked up by Fox, with Doug Banker and Jason Barrett to executive produce while Matthew Reilly will co-produce.

Zac Efron will next be seen in "At Any Price", which also stars Dennis Quaid and Heather Graham, "Are We Officially Dating?" together with Jessica Lucas, Imogen Poots and Miles Teller and the JFK assassination drama "Parkland".
