21 Sep – After postponing its release dates several times, it was revealed that the upcoming Dr Mahathir movie, "Mahathir: The Journey" is set to be released next year simultaneously with China. The news was revealed by Executive Producer Taha Wahid, saying that Reliance Media Group has decided to delay the release after a discussion with its distributor in China. "The film is not being released only in Malaysia, but in several other countries as well including China and Japan. We've agreed to release the movie simultaneously here and in China, so maybe the movie will be released next year, depending on the COVID-19 situation," he said, adding that most of the theatres in China have yet to fully open.
Other cast members include Hilal Azman (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), Dian P Ramlee (Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail), Lisdawati (Nurul Izzah Anwar), Dazrin Kamarudin (Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman) and Afieq Hussain (Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir). The movie will be following the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister's struggle after his resignation in 2003. Asked if Dr Mahathir himself will be watching the movie, Taha stated that they will have a private screening with the said leader before the movie is shown to the audience.
