Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis wanted for "The Batman"

Colin Farrell and Andy Serkis are being eyed for two different roles in "The Batman".

6 Nov – Last we heard of "The Batman" updates, it was the confirmation of who's playing The Riddler after Jonah Hill drops out of negotiations.

Hill was previously reported to play either The Riddler or The Penguin, the former already has an actor attached to it while the latter still needs to be cast.

Deadline brought word that Colin Farrell ("Dumbo", "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them") is currently in talks with Warner Bros. to fill in the role.

If the Irish actor seals the deal as The Penguin, he will be joining Paul Dano's The Riddler and Zoe Kravitz's Catwoman as the trio of villains that are going up against Robert Pattinson's titular superhero.

News of Farrell's possible casting came not long after TheWrap revealed that another big actor was being eyed for a role in the upcoming Matt Reeves-directed movie.

It is reported that motion capture maestro Andy Serkis is in discussion to play Batman's loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

Serkis will be the eighth Alfred to appear in a live-action movie if he takes on the role, following in the footsteps of alums William Austin, Eric Wilton, Alan Napier, Michael Gough, Michael Caine, Jeremy Irons, and Douglas Hodge.

"The Batman" is slowly but steadily rounding up its cast, which currently also includes Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, before beginning production in January 2020 in the U.K, for release in cinemas in June 2021.
