6 Jun – "Paper Moon", directed by Stanley Law has won four awards at the recent 2013 Los Angeles Movie Awards. The awards won include the Award of Excellence, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Screenplay under the International Feature Film category.

"The Los Angeles 2013 Awards has set a good precedence for Astro Shaw Sdn. Bhd. We have been consistent in producing Chinese titles and are thrilled to be working with Double Vision, the cast, and crew, in making the film the success that it is. The recognition proves that local Chinese productions are capable of garnering international accolades," says Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai, General Manager, and Executive Producer of Astro Shaw Sdn. Bhd.

"Paper Moon" stars upcoming model-turned-actress Chrissie Chau and Gordon Lam from Hong Kong, who had both won Best Actress and Best Supporting Actor, respectively at the Los Angeles movie awards. This is Chau's first award won in her entire acting career, and Lam had been nominated thrice at the Hong Kong Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in "Cold War", "Ip Man" and "Dance of a Dream".

The two actors appeared together with Malaysian actors Tedd Chen and Rynn Lim, and had their film premiere and theatrical release at Malaysian cinemas earlier this year. The movie later received positive reviews and widespread attention.

"We're thrilled and excited with the accomplishment!" says a statement regarding the matter. "Plans to have a second release of "Paper Moon" in Malaysia, in its international version are currently being discussed."

The film's Best Actress Chrissie Chau can be seen next in an upcoming film feature "Kick Ass Girls", which, like "Paper Moon", will also include some actors from Malaysia.
