15 Mar – It came as no surprise when "Alice In Wonderland" secured another successful box office run over the weekend (11-14 March), dominating the charts for a second week in a row in United States, Malaysia and Singapore. According to Box Office Mojo, the fantasy flick raked in US$62 million in ticket sales, making a total of US$208.6 million in the first two weeks of US release.
Outgrossing "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory", the film became director Tim Burton's and actor Johnny Depp's highest-grossing collaboration and is well underway to overtake "Batman" as Burton's top-grossing movie ever. According to Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Singapore, the film took in an encouraging S$3.2 million within 11 days, making it the No.1 grossing film to date for 2010 and is the 8th highest grossing Disney all-time release, behind "The Incredibles" (S$ 3.8 million) and beating "Prince Caspian". It also had the all-time biggest opening weekend for 3D screens only (S$ 971,069); beating "Avatar" (S$941,156), "Up" (S$685,005) and "Ice Age 3" (S$478,737).
On another note, Malaysian made sequel to Ahmad Idham's "Remp-it", "V3 Samseng Jalanan" directed by actor-turned-filmmaker Farid Kamil had a favourable run at the Malaysia box office, grossing RM2 million and breaking "Adnan Sempit"'s opening day record according to distributor Metrowealth (MIG). Meanwhile, "Remember Me" starring "Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson's first non-vampire, non wizard role as a mortal in Manhattan mustered a weak opening in the US and Malaysia, garnering US$8.3 million in the US. The film is set to release in Singapore on 18 March 2010.
